Details for "Career Transitions SIG: “A Holistic Approach to Decision Making”"

Being in Transition is a time for making lots of decisions – decisions that will have major impacts on the future course of your career and life in general. This presentation will give you some insight into the various elements that impact our decisions and will put some method into the potential madness.

It is imperative that we understand that Problem Solving is unique to the problem; while Decision-Making is unique to the person.

We will consider:

  • The vital elements of the decision-making process
  • The five factors that impact the quality of a decision
  • Objective setting, and surrogate objectives
  • The role of criteria, and criteria segregation
  • The role of creativity in the decision-making process
  • The seven-step XpertUS decision technique

Speaker Dr. Errol Wirasinghe

Dr. Wirasinghe is the author of the book – The Art of Making Decisions. Additionally he has developed the XpertUS software to manage complex decision-making situations. As an Oil & Gas industry specialist and a University Professor, has published papers on topics relating to Management, Engineering and Economics. He has carved out a niche as a “decision-maker” and a “creative-thinker”, to shatter the myth and math of decision-making.

Fluent in English, Spanish and Sinhalese, he has worked and trained professionals in Asia, Mid-East, Africa, Europe, North America and South America. He has a thorough understanding of cultures and values that govern religious, social and business conduct on many Continents.
