Session Break-out Facilitator Request for Proposal

Event Description:

The Just Add Water event is designed to showcase 6 presenters; each presenting for 20 minutes to an audience of 5-6 participants. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Cameron Building, 4800 Calhoun, Houston, TX 77204 - 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Session Objective:

The Just Add Water session will provide quick and concise learning environment for professionals to define themselves and support their industries. Special emphasis will be placed on the critical components of technology, change management, Instructional Design, talent management/succession planning, and any topics relevant for an ASTD audience.

Presentation Specifics

Presentations should last for 20 minutes. Bring your own handouts and job aids to distribute during the session. Presentations will be limited to basic visual aids that can be distributed and reviewed in a round table setting. Engagement and audience interaction is key. Real world experience in the area you present is a must. Challenges and ways to overcome them should also be included. Presentations should use an appropriate mix of adult learning and motivation techniques: lecture, group activity, Q&A etc.

ASTD Member Survey results show members want more Evening meetings and networking opportunities.

The Just Add Water event scheduled August 10^th meets both those needs. ASTD Houston unfolds knowledge and talent in a format where you can listen, just add water, and walk away prepared to implement the information the next day.

ASTD Houston Scholarship

ASTD Houston awards a scholarship yearly to someone with the aim of pursuing a career in the field of human performance technology. A scholarship application must be completed and returned by October 22, 2010 considered.The scholarship applications are evaluated and a decision is made. Scholarship winners will be announced no later than December 15, 2010. Criteria for the scholarship includes: · Document(s) showing that you are currently enrolled in an academic program with the aim of pursuing a career in the field of human performance technology or documents attesting that you are currently working in the learning and performance field and enrolled in a certification program the meet the ASTD National competency standards. · Documentation showing you have completed at least 25% of the study program. · Transcript showing a consistent B average or above or achievement of acceptable certification program requirements. · Two original letters...
