This is not an April Fool's Joke. "By coincidence, the title of the popular Infoline series March 2010 issue is "Managing across Generations," Isbell said. State of the Chapter 2009

Early in the year we engaged a new administrative service to accommodate our planned growth into the future. Following Vicky Aranda's (our former administrator) retirement, we hired AMC (Association Management Consultants). This company designates two administrators, Lori Wilkins and Logan Wright, to help our chapter with member support and administrative tasks and enables our board to concentrate on strategic activities. We set a strategy that embraces our community and its needs. After launching Lunch Bunches two years ago, these groups have grown and developed into their own unique communities. Going forward, we will call these Lunch Bunch groups - Community Training Networks and work toward further developing these communities to meet their unique needs. ASTD - Houston Chapter Mourns the Passing of Reardon Smith

Reardon's passion was helping those in Career Transition. He served as the Career Transition Chair for over 6 years as well as other leadership roles in ASTD. Many people were positively impacted by his helping spirit and positive approach to life.

The ASTD - Houston Chapter will honor his memory at the upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Event in November. In the meantime, information for Reardon's memorial service is as follows. It will be a small service for family and friends at Memorial Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, 77079 this Friday the 23rd at from 10-lap.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this very special member of our chapter. Reardon Smith will be deeply treasured and missed.

President, Alise Isbell Appoints Nannette Daugherty as VP of Professional Development

Alise Isbell officially appointed Nannette Daugherty as the VP of Professional Development following the resignation of Thecia Jenkins. "We are very confident that Nannette will do a great job heading up the challenges of managing and implementing Professional Development for ASTD Houston Chapter.

Nannette Daugherty is a dedicated business leader, currently managing the HR Operations department for The Methodist Hospital. Prior to this position, she managed the Organizational Development & Training Department at Methodist. Nannette has over 23 years experience in training, leadership development, and organizational development. Twelve of these years were spent in management roles. She has developed and delivered training and soft skills interventions in the United States and in Asia. Some of the industries Nannette has worked with include health care, nuclear power, air transportation, and state government. Nannette has an undergraduate degree in Organizational Psychology, a professional certificate in Training & Development, an MBA, and the SPHR certification, along with numerous other certifications related to training and organizational development.

Nannette has been involved with ASTD for a number of years. She has been a SIG leader for the chapter in Minneapolis, and has been active with the Membership Committee in our Houston chapter. Some of you may have met her as she greeted you at a meeting as she ensured you met and networked with other members.

Nannette is known for her enthusiasm and energy, and her passion for helping others grow and succeed.
